Review # 1 was written on 2013-07-10 00:00:00 Joan Rubik Yes, only OK. What happened to the original version, you know, the one where the wolf eats the first little "bacon" at the straw house, eats the second little "ham" at the stick house, but ends up in the stew pot at the third little "pork chop's" brick house? Come on people, this re-write reads like some social progressive tribute to modern serfdom. The first IRS agent, I mean pig, shakes down some poor farmer taking hay to his fields to feed his cows. Now the farmer has no hay, the cows go hungry, and soon die, and the USAPCA is after him, along with the EPA. But the pig has his house of straw. The second union boss.., I mean pig, commandeers some poor schmuck's wagon of sticks that he was taking to the local orphanage to provide fuel for their cook stoves and heat for their furnaces. Poor kids, starved and froze to death, but the second pig got his house of sticks. The third HHS agent, I mean pig, confiscated all the bricks that the local benevolent society was using to provide shelter for the homeless, and yes, they too perished in the harsh winter storms, but the third pig did get his opulent palace built of bricks on the backs of all the local townsfolk. Anyway, "the people", you know, the ones mentioned in that old document that starts out "We the People, of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union..." are represented by the wolf, and we know how that story ends--in a stew pot getting our gooses cooked, with all three pigs (now standing for much of our government), singing and dancing away. |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-01-16 00:00:00 Richard Glover This is rather a poor retelling of this old classic tale. It is not told in the correct way, the pictures, while they were nice and colourful, really were nothing special. Not a version I was very impressed with. |
