The two end up growing closer and have a ton of fun together. Miss Alice puts on a different pair of shoes for every activity that the two of them do together; dancing, walking, and going to bed. The little girl catches on and puts on her dancing shoes as she dances through the house at the end of the story, pretending like they were shoes like Miss Alice's. Themes: The main theme that I drew from this story was that you should always give someone a chance to get to know them before you jump to conclusions. The little girl was standoffish towards Miss Alice when she first came over, but the two of them ended up becoming good friends and had a ton of fun together. Miss Alice ended up having a great influence on her as well because she mimicked what Miss Alice did, so I also think another theme in this book has to do with role models and choosing the right people to look up to you. Star Rating: 5 Stars Personal Response: I absolutely loved this book because it brought me back to when I was younger and would get nervous every time a babysitter came over. I am also a nanny for a family here in Fort Worth and it also reminded me of how the kids follow what I do which makes me want to be the best person and influence I can be for them. Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this book for children because I think it focuses a lot on having a positive attitude about meeting new people and having an open mind. If I were a parent I think I would definitely read this to my kids! |
