Though a bit on the older side (apparently this Reagan Administration is really mucking things up!) this is a rare book that explains basic Econ 101 principles while positing that a Christian need not accept capatalist assumptions blindly. Owensby systematically explains the myths of free trade, i.e. free trade is the best way to help developing countries reach become developed; unlimited growth is good. While Owensby does not present a solid case for an economic system that does intersect with Christian faith, he provides tools for analyzing public policy in terms of its effect on the world's poor -- something all Christians should be concerned with.

Great Read Whether or not this book leans left will be for each individual reader to decide. I found this book incredibly interesting in its explanation and analysis of how the American economy has been hijacked by Republican supply side economic theory. This is a clear, cogent presentation of the author's argument and is a must read for everyone who wonders how this theory has survived in spite of its utter failure over the past thirty years.
