Review # 1 was written on 2020-08-03 00:00:00 Paul Michaels This book is a diplomatic blow-by-blow that focused ALOT of the US. Its so Americentric that it left a lot of details about Nicaragua in the dark. I did not have enough background knowledge to read this book, which assumes you know the events already. I had no clue who Somoza was before reading this book, and after reading it, I got a sense of who he was, but not the events of 1979. This book is only suited for people who want to delve deeply into the American political side of things, it neglects basically everything else. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-03-19 00:00:00 TONY FRANCIS If you're looking for some hard history or insight into the Mussolini's perspective, getting through the transparent propaganda and into anything substantial is tough goings all around. Possibly someone familiar with Italian history/politics could find the cartoonish arrogance and skewed view of how things really happened amusing and perhaps even telling. If you know nothing, like me, this just feels like a waste of a time. Lots and lots of time. |
