A good overview of the most notable aspects of Egypt. I do think the last chapter about the influence of Ancient Egypt could have been better or cut entirely and replaced with something else. It also had a couple spelling errors I noticed. One other small critique would be that one image was in there twice. It fit in both places, but I feel took up space of where a different image could have been presented instead. Some of the graphics as well don't explain what they are about well enough and have to be deeply examined to really understand and even then you might not understand them (I'm specifically thinking of the Hieroglyphics section). In any case, I liked most of the images chosen and did learn a thing or two, such as that Egyptians were the first to have a 12 month year with 365 days in it. Still, don't expect much depth in any area. This just gives the big picture of Egypt, so if you are looking for that, this is likely a good simple place to start.

Egyptology: An Introduction To The History, Art, And Culture Of Ancient Egypt is a good book for those who want to know about Egyptology but don't know what part of this proverbial apple to bite into first. This book is a simple and well illustrated introduction to Egyptology that would be easy, pleasant and informative for most age groups. Some of the illustrations lack captions, which is more amusing than frustrating. The color plates are of excellent quality, especially the magnificent pained copies of the original ancient artworks that give the reader a conception of the originals' vibrancy. The best aspect of this book is that it provides a concise, relaxed yet informative overview of Egyptology's basics.
