This book is awesome. I have always considered myself more of a good baker and an ok cook and this book has proved to be an excellent buy. Sections include breads, cookies, cakes, pies, and desserts. The recipies are easy to understand and I never had a problem finding ingredients even though the only stores in my area are major chains. I have only attempted a small portion of the recipies but they all turned out amazing. At Christmas I become a cookie making machine and the Pillsbury Chocolate Star Gingersnaps, Oatmeal-Raisin, and Soft-and-Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies were all big hits. I have also made the Snickerdoodles and Cinnamon Tea Cakes mostly for myself because I love cinnamon. The Favorite Fudge Brownies have been a go-to around twenty or thirty times. I can not even really describe how delicious and fudgey they are and the frosting is wonderful. People have requested these many times. I have only made two cakes from this book: the German Chocolate Cake with Coconut-Pecan Frosting and the Fudgy Peppermint Truffle Chocolate Cake. The german chocolate was my favorite. The peppermint turned out too pepperminty I think that was my fault. The introduction covers a lot including info about baking at higher elevation, common ingredients, a list of substitutions, and tips on measuring and what pans to use. There's also a section for kids that's a lot of fun. I think this book has something for everyone who loves to bake.

For the pie section alone, I love this book. So many different pie recipes, all gathered together. Berry pies and tarts galore, and pumpkin, Fluffy Key Lime, Golden Pecan, Chocolate Pecan, Rhubarb Strawberry Tart, Banana Split Tart, and Country Apple Pear Tart, not to mention all the breads, cakes, cookies, desserts, and "bakes" for your meal.
