Review # 1 was written on 2011-06-13 00:00:00 Steven White Charles Geist does a very readable history of deals in Wall Street. This is a fantastic book for those looking for a broad overview of Wall Street Mergers and acquisitions. I find it particularly helpful as so much of the companies that are remaining existed under a totally different name decades ago. Yet the legacy problems existing at or prior to such mergers still echo in the companies today. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-12-28 00:00:00 Max Eric What is Managerial Finance? Finance is related to money, and a manager is an upper-level employee in a firm that 'manages' people. It is safe to assume that this book will be about finances that a business would undertake. Essentials of Managerial Finance is a textbook written by J Fred Weston and Eugene F Brigham. It is the abridged version of another book. I happen to have the second edition from 1971. Sometimes it is easy to tell. The book is quite useful. It answers questions that would come up naturally when discussing finance. For example, what is the difference between accounting and finance? Essentials of Managerial Finance has eight parts divided into twenty-four chapters. While the book does have problems to solve, none of the solutions are in the book. |
