Review # 1 was written on 2014-07-06 00:00:00 William Randell An interesting and not insubstantial collection of works from the Andersson-Wise office that describes both their design agenda and seven particular projects as illustrations. Certainly a very interesting text and beautifully illustrated with crisp photographs, clear drawings and some evocative watercolours but it felt like the book could have been pushed further: to feel like you've 'finished' reading a monograph in less than a few hours suggests that some depth is missing. More thorough explanations of their sustainable strategies could have been included, likewise some detail drawings of the more original features of their designs (the cordwood wall or crank-driven vanishing glass wall to pick just two). Not to detract, this is a good publication by great practitioners and I look forward to it inspiring my designs.
