Review # 1 was written on 2014-06-02 00:00:00 Roger MARTIN This book is pretty awesome. Gives a good mathematical and intuitive description of two-level systems interacting with classical radiation, clearly indicating the approximations and validity each of each step. The ending of the book gives a terse description of quantized radiation and a few interesting features of quantum electrodynamics. This is a good book as a stepping stone for higher level studies of light-matter interactions. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-09-29 00:00:00 Michael Lacey This is the JJ Sakurai of light scattering books. Prepare for maddening old fashioned explanation, equations with no equals signs, and disorganized presentation of material. Bohren and Huffman rock it out much more elegantly. |
