Oh this book is dull. You thought computer manuals and instruction manuals were bad, but it is worth it. The good thing is that this book is thorough. The author clearly explains how everything is connected to everything else in the sequence of steps in the project management paradigm. And he does this without shaggy dog stories about his experiences at XYZ Company. Yep it is a just-the-facts, anecdote-free book on project management. That is a rarity in itself. Since I am not keen on anecdotes in instructional literature, I was very pleased with his approach. This is done independent of references to any type of software. Nevetheless, after reading this book, I opened Microsoft's Project Management program and could identify all of the parts, the terms, and how they fit together. I could also recognize and understand acronyms mentioned in project management related job descriptions.

After three tries, I finally found a decent introduction to the principles of project management. Though, if I didn't have the context of already being a project manager, I'm not sure any of this woud make sense. These principles are supposed to apply to any project from holding a yard sale to building a sky scrapper, so if you don't have some way to conceptualize, I'm sure it would be maddeningly vague. My only (minor) complaint is that the title doesn't have anything to do with the book. There's no 90-day action plan or anything of the sort. The only place "90 days" is mentioned is the cover. This book gets bonus points for not having a bunch of puns or a chatty tone to the writing.
