Review # 1 was written on 2020-09-17 00:00:00 Shan Varughese The book weakened towards the end, and it wasn't as brilliant as Notes from Overground (by the same author under the pseudonym Tiresias). But still, the author takes us on a fun and insightful journey, lit up by leonard cohen and greek culture & literature |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-06-26 00:00:00 Kevin Kretz Roger Green wrote a poem which mentions the banana trees in Leonard Cohen's garden, which Green could see from his home on the island of Hydra. Friends asked for a copy of the poem, so he decided to add explanatory notes. The notes became notes on notes. He began to see everything he read, heard and saw as further incidences of the themes and inside jokes of his poem - especially bananas, muses, Leonard Cohen and gardens. As an account of how our minds catch at coincidences and one interest leads to others, it is painstakingly accurate. That does not mean I could finish it. I gave up after a hundred pages or so. |
