Has a good language and info, but is really biased. It also talks too much about the US even though is a World History book.

Imagine, if you will, the marvelous books by Preston and Child that feature Pendergast (and/or Diogenes) but abridged and without the clever literary references and sprinkling of pedantic trivia that so enhances the stories in those books. There you have Leonardo's Law. This, very typical, locked room murder mystery hinges on the solution of another exceptional Renaissance Man detective. It is a fast read and I enjoyed it. Yet, this character will never replace Pendergast in my mind. I really missed the attention to detail found in the Preston and Child books (probably the result of having a book editor as co-author) and wished that the mystery had been a bit more complex. It was solid "train" reading, but not such that I expect to seek out any more Leonardo books. On the other hand, if I were to see some at a used bookstore or library sale, I might still grab them with the train in mind.
