Review # 1 was written on 2012-09-30 00:00:00 Eric Pomminville This book has a bit of an identity crisis. The book itself is very short and simple, which indicates that it's appropriate for a small toddler (12-18 months). The book itself only has ten pages and can be read in about two and a half minutes--again, indicative of something for a small toddler. Yet, the examples of opposites it uses are a bit difficult for a child of that age to grasp. Faster vs. slower? Inside vs. outside? For a book geared toward that age group I would have rather seen a bit more big vs. small, short vs. tall, happy vs. sad, etc. They chose some opposites for this book that simply aren't that clear for a very young child. The book was enjoyable, but could have been more effective as a learning tool with a bit more thought. |
