This is a collection of essays by various authors writing about the influence the media has on the behavior of boys and girls. The authors write about the boys growing up to become more sexually aggressive and demanding and girls growing up to have an extremely warped sexuality and little to no sense of self-worth. There are essays looking at children in the US and the UK and also a good look at the negative stereotypes in the rap and hip hop communities. There are some good suggestions on how to change the amount of influence the media has on children, but they can be reduced to simply being more involved as a parent. Know what your kids are watching on tv, ask them about the music they listen to, know what movies they are going to see with their friends. Simple stuff like that.
