Review # 1 was written on 2012-04-08 00:00:00 Heidi Piette Bracy, the Kappan columnist, is always thought-provoking, constantly challenging us to re-look at the research on education. In this book he takes a critical look at the constant call for school reform that has been a perpetual American public school, examines the realities of the claims, and takes a particular look at the history and design of standardized tests. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-03-01 00:00:00 Jay Jackson This was my textbook for a summer class. A good, thorough introduction to language, bilingualism, multilingualism, policies, education, etc. I found it slightly repetitive in some chapters, but Baker does that to show just how complex & interconnected the issues surrounded language education really are. If you want to know what it is I do for a living, this will give you an good idea about all areas concerning language education and all its various implementations. |
