Review # 1 was written on 2018-09-01 00:00:00 Virginia Parrotta This is a very sentimental book and it got me. Everything is about the opposites or yin and yang between parent and child. ex. "I am you quiet place; you are my wild". I am not a parent, but even just being an aunt, I see how these relationships fit in just like this book is saying. The two can be the perfect compliment and also not, it all depends on what the parent puts into it. As someone who doesn't have children, this tugs at that deep longing inside them. I have been around two wild kids and I know how much can be consumed by fighting and tantrums and sleepless nights. Parenting is the hardest job in the world, but there is still something in me that longs for it. Children are brutal, but those moments of gold somehow make it all worth it. I know this book is a beginner book and meant for the best parts of child rearing and it is overly sentimental and despite all that, it still made me feel and tear up just a little. It's a good book.

Review # 2 was written on 2008-02-21 00:00:00 Nina Evjen I stood in B&N reading this book and a single, silent tear escaped down my cheek. I wasn't even pregnant at the time. Now, two babies later, the book touches me in places that it couldn't when I first read it, simply because I had never been there. "You are my first wish...." every time I read that line to my son as he squirms in my lap, my eyes still well with tears. The book will, hopefully, one day convey the things to him that I cannot so eloquently say.
