Review # 1 was written on 2012-08-13 00:00:00 Michael Smits A very small, basic guide to rocks and minerals. Contains very basic information on about 80 or so common rocks and minerals. I think I had about 150 rocks and 150 minerals that I had to be able to identify in my mineralogy and petrology classes. These are all minerals/rocks that I had to memorize facts on, early on, in my earth and planetary science classes. I found and old tan, landscape version of this book published in the 80s. I bought it because it's kind of cute. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-05-30 00:00:00 Michele Britton Very precise book. This book was the ONLY text book used during grad school. Very sturdy (It accompanied me in many a hike), colorful photos, and the cover is a type of vinyl that is tear-resistant so it can really take a beating. The book is organized well even for the layman. I suggest it for a student taking one semester of geology all the way to the doctoral candidate. |
