The author is actually Daniel Shaw, the editor of the journal Film and Philosophy. This book gives a good overview of some of the writing that is central to the field of film and philosophy. It is well worth reading as an introduction, as it gives a sort of road map to the important authors and issues that are part of the scholarly dialogue in this emerging area of aesthetics.
