Review # 1 was written on 2018-06-19 00:00:00 Fred Armstrong Windfall This book was about one of several people who went into a lotto ticket and won millions. This story was about trust. He was in the military and deployed overseas. He had promised not to take on any dangerous missions. But when she called she was told he was out and wouldn't be back for a few days. Knowing what that meant she sent divorce papers to him and bought a farm. Now he is back and wants his wife back. This is their second chance. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-04-08 00:00:00 Ryan Wiechens Ugh. I picked this up because the blurb showed promise and I typically enjoy stories about couples who are able to work through their issues and find their way (back) to a way to be happy together. Unfortunately, I found Ruby's decision-making and reasoning throughout the story immature and suspect, and while Sam was determined and steadfast, neither was particularly good at communicating clearly what was on their hearts and minds. While they seemingly resolved their differences, I don't necessarily have confidence they won't run into or create new roadblocks in the future that will derail their fragile happiness. Ruby in particular puts too much stock into particular words while clearly being unable or unwilling to articulate what she needs/wants. This was definitely a disappointing read, and alas, not a windfall for this reader. |
