Chasing Baby is by Pam McCutcheon. It is a really cute novel about chasing down a stolen pickup and telling the most inane stories about what might have happened to Pams that would necessitate their taking after it themselves instead of calling the police. Meg Hollingsworth had three days in San Antonio before she headed for the fair in Arizona and she intended to make the best of that time. She didnt get off the farm that often; but she had a plan to get off permanently. Now she intended to enjoy herself. She stopped at the hotel and went in to get a room. While she was there, her pickup was stolen along with Baby! Cole McKenzie drove up next to the hotel where he was to meet Natalie and hand over Luke for the weekend. He hated these weekend visits. Just before they drove up, Luke had seen some puppies and was whining about getting a puppy. This didnt help Coles mood. He got Luke out of the car and headed for Natalie. She and her boyfriend Brad were talking and it seems Brad had taken the opportunity to propose. Hoping to be romantic, he tied the ring to the ribbon on a stuffed bunny rabbit. Just as he handed it to her, Luke rushed up and to distract him, Natalie handed him the rabbit not seeing the ring. Just then, Brads boss called to let him know that he had taken the wrong ring. Brad had taken the expensive diamond one instead of the CD one. If he didnt get it back immediately, he would be charged and fired. While the commotion was going on, Luke walked up to a red pickup and looked inside. He backed off quickly when the pickup started up. Cole grabbed for Luke as the truck took off. Luke started crying for the rabbit which he thought was a puppy. Meg was yelling that her truck was being stolen with BABY in it! Brad and Natalie were arguing. Cole acted quickly as he did in his job as a police officer. He started for his car to chase the truck down. Meg jumped in to go with him. What he doesnt see is Luke getting in the back seat. Cole is not going to let a baby be kidnapped. Natalie and Brad speed after them to find Luke and the ring. Little do they know what they are in for and no one but Meg knows that Baby is a rabbit!
