I've acquired a bad habit during this lockdown: I read the goodreads review of a book before actually reading the book itself. Bad as it maybe, I have no intention of breaking the habit.... With this in mind, I read the a few reviews of the book here didn't think I would enjoy it but read it anyway. I liked it, very much. I'm not a fan of kids and ready-made-family plots but this one was good. I didn't finish the book with a feeling that the h was second-best to the H's first wife, simply because he came after her (his excuse to see her was so sweet) and he was willing to move to London for her and a few other small tidbits from his POV. That's special, awww :) I also get why he didn't show interest in the the h when she was 17 and he 26. She was still a kid and she had a bit of a troubled past so she needed to find herself and so she did in London and LA and TV. He found himself too... stuck on the island, with a high maintenance restaurant, two kids, a deranged "perfect" wife and bottle of paracetamol (when I read this was the way the first wife offed herself, my first thought was "nah she didn't REALLY want to die", but apparently overdosing on this household medication is a for reals thing). The first wife sounded like a hag anyway, thank goodness the h didn't have to deal with her in the flesh.

I never like books when the heroine is second best to the Heros dead wife but it doesnt bother me as much if they have kids for some reason. For this heroine to be second best and infertile?!?! Nope not for me! The writing was good but I just didnt enjoy the storyline.
