[The author cleverly leads us and poor hero to believe that the OM secretly worshipped by the heroine is the fiance of her older sister. It actually turns out to be heroine's own brother, and the hero walks in on what he believes to be an incestual scene between brother and sister. To ward off suspicion, the heroine had omitted to tell hero that her "brother" has no biological ties to her, since she was adopted into the family, and that they never even had a sibling relationship due to their age gap. On one hand, I understand heroine wanting to keep such an embarrassing secret to herself. On the other hand, once she became engaged to hero, it was unforgivable of her not to reveal the truth to hero. It put him in an infuriating, humiliating, and awkward position and he didn't deserve that. Lucky for her that he forgave all in the end, courtesy of a contrived, out-of-nowhere kidnapping subplot that placed the heroine's life in danger and brought the hero back into her life. The OM adoptive brother and his passive-aggressive, insipid, small-minded fiancee were horrifying and a true match for each other. I had a really hard time believing this dumb dumb heroine would lovingly cherish this wart on humanity for as long as she did! (hide spoiler)]

Genre: category romance Sensuality: PG 38 year old barrister finds 26 year old former model crying at a party. He helps her get over her unrequited love for another man. For the first 70% of the novel, this was a nice romance between 2 sensible people with intelligent dialogue. Then all these WTF twists happened that was incongruous with the bk. Rating went from a 4 to a 3. Trope: older man
