Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-28 00:00:00 Patrick McRae I loved this book because it had so many wonderful women to discover on a variety of topics and writing styles. The book included poetry, essays, short stories, biographies, and more. It shed light on relatable topics such as motherhood, marriage, divorce, and relationships, but also, added a variety of topics that are not discussed in everyday settings. This was my first anthology and I would buy this book if it were not so expensive purchased brand new or used. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-05-29 00:00:00 Charles Alexander Was surprised by the diversity that came in this anthology. Broken up in sections, loosely naming a few of them "Identity and difference" "Writing bodies" "The maternal." I loved reading Audre Lorde and Hélène Cixous alongside bell hooks and Sandra Cisneros. I was introduced to the concept of jouissance through Cixous and Nancy Mairs, and learned about the honesty of eroticism and womanhood. Highly recommend many *select excerpts* |
