Review # 1 was written on 2011-07-29 00:00:00 Benjamin Reynolds A fascinating insight into the history of the role of the housewife in England. The book covers topics such as cleaning, provisioning and hobbies and seems meticulously researched. Finding out more about the lengths women had to go to, in the past, to run a household was interesting and definitely makes one feel thankful now for the modern appliances and gadgets we have today. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-11-03 00:00:00 Dave Deveau An interesting, easy-to-read history of the UK (and a wee bit about the Irish) housewife. Chanced upon it at the library and thought "what the hey." Definitely learned some things I didn't know, and definitely feel like a bump on top of a bump on a log for how lazy my modern-day self is.
