Review # 1 was written on 2015-10-19 00:00:00 Edgar Sosa Corona 75 years have passed since H.M. Bond released this book, but it's still a standard text on African-American education in the post-Reconstruction South. Coupled with the WEB DuBois-edited "The Negro Common School" report of 1901, this volume provides nearly all of the statistical and descriptive data necessary for researches to craft a clear overview of this subject. It's "dated," I suppose--even the postscript is from 1965--but in this case (and probably in most cases), it's difficult to tell what a remark like that even means (save, perhaps, that it's a useful way to dismiss works when discussing them in graduate seminars). |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-03-29 00:00:00 Chad Thorn not suitable for teaching material |
