Review # 1 was written on 2016-03-23 00:00:00 Timothy Coogan The book is a sociological study about celibacy as experienced by seminarians and faculty staff of an American seminary. Students and staff are interviewed and give their opinion and views on celibacy. In short, the seminarians often have no idea what they are talking about and only parrot intellectual church theory about the "gift" of celibacy (lol). The staff, having more lived experience, seem to be able to think more for themselves and put the usefullness of celibacy in doubt. Interesting insight in the cultish, oppressive atmosphere of catholic seminaries. |
