Review # 2 was written on 2012-09-13 00:00:00 Shane Connor Pocahontas, by Lucia Raatma, tells the true story about Pocahontas. This is a multicultural literature book because it gives a look into the Native American culture. It tells about her life as a Native American, her father being a great Indian chief, what happened when the men from England came to America, the true story of her relationships with John Smith and John Rolfe, and her journey to England, where she died. I could use this book for a social studies lesson on Colonial America. I could have the students compare and contrast the Disney Movie, Pocahontas, to the real story of her life. The reading level of this book is 3.1. |
