If you are looking for secondary literature on H. G. Wells, this book is one of the best as I really dug down the library to write my essay on The Time Machine!

Very little in literature gives me more pleasure than reading the poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins. I once knew The Wreck of the Deutchland by heart and have delighted in kestrels, poplars and fast moving streams. I once spent a long time and a lot more money than I could afford in a pub in Didsbury with Anthony Easthope debating whether he was really a poet at all. I was a fan, Easthope wasn't and there were few minds harder to shift in Manchester in those days. A bloody good tustle though and I wish I could remember the name of the pub. Anthony has gone and my love of Hopkins remains.
