Review # 1 was written on 2019-10-18 00:00:00 Tim Gordon This book is intended to be an interdisciplinary look on narrative. Perhaps the contributors intended to write for people from all relevant disciplines, but I feel that most of the articles turned out as just written in loose and unconvincing terms. I am biased though, in being based in philosophy and enjoying texts in that style and format. There are some interesting topics here (e.g. I found ch. 5 on different material metaphors of self corresponding to different phases in computing technology a very promising subject), but I was dissatisfied with the authors' treatments of these topics. I would recommend potential readers of this book who are new to narrative studies to pick up the canon works cited by various contributors, such as Ian Hacking's Rewriting the Soul or Jerome Bruner's Acts of Meaning.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-01-16 00:00:00 Eli Villegas Not having read anything about Socialism, Marxism or Western feminism before, I picked up the book and was actually quite impressed. However I couldn't go past after half the book was finished because at times the language gets really technical and you will have to be acquainted with some previous philosophies at first. Overall: good one for prospective undergrads who want to try out Socialism courses.
