Review # 1 was written on 2014-04-24 00:00:00 Andrej Blejec I feel as though I found a kindred spirit in Wayne C. Booth. His essays on rhetoric's role in society and the qualities of good teaching are spot-on. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-08-24 00:00:00 Rob Young Although Welch spends more time explaining and then condemning neoliberal policies, she doesn't spend as much time explaining how the ideas of private/public are explained in a composition classroom. Though the interludes/narratives are interesting, we're still left to wonder how applicable these experiences are with other types of students, such as mine, who do not attend even an open campus as U Vermont. Now that the Iraq ware is "over" (or forgotten, which is worse), the tension of public-ness is less tangible for our students today. Of course, that's perhaps what she's saying most. |
