Review # 1 was written on 2017-01-05 00:00:00 Steve Seno A remarkable study about one of the most neglected Jewish philosophers of the Modern era. Isaac Breuer was an Orthodox Rabbi and Lawyer who used Kant, Schopenhauer, Fichte, Dilthey in order to defend his own idiosyncratic Judaism. As a heir of Rabbi S. R. Hirsch (the founder of Torah Im Derech Eretz ideology) and leader and ideologist of Agudat Yisrael (and Poalei Agudat Yisrael), Breuer developed a truly complex and paradoxical Jewish philosophy in dialogue with the best of German culture, confronted the challenges of his era (Modernity, democracy, liberalism, fascist, Zionism, Biblical Criticism, positivism, historicism) and proposed an alternative to the Haredi mainstream. Polemical to the end, for him the Judaism was first and primarly Halakhah, and the Jewish people was defined only by his adherence to Jewish Law. But that didn't mean a retreat to insularity, but an imperative to create an exemplar society, defined by God presence.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-03-15 00:00:00 Harvey Singer This is an exceptional textbook. It is clearly written, well laid out and with excellent examples for clearer understanding. There is a tremendous amount of information but it reads so well that I actually found myself enjoying (and looking forward) to reading it! The only drawback is that my classes move so fast that I don't get a chance to really read and think about everything the way I would like to but then again, I can always do that once the class is finished. I highly recommend this book for those taking their first psychology class or just want a clearer understand of psychology in general.
