Review # 1 was written on 2021-03-07 00:00:00 John Mix Very clear and thorough. While the near-exclusive focus on the Wars of Religion is understandable, it does make this book more a history of the Reformation in France than a history of Reformation France properly speaking. It would have been nice to have had a little bit more detail on developments outside the religious sphere - even if, as the nomenclature of the period suggests, these were not central |

Answers lie in the Wars of Religion and the monarchy's fiscal policy focusing on military campaigns paid for with credit. |
