Review # 1 was written on 2012-02-22 00:00:00 Tia Blair I do not have an education degree, nor am I a linguist, so some of the terminology here is pretty dense (and the papers start off a bit on the boring side). The papers and articles collected in this book do, however, offer insights that are fascinating to contemplate. As a teacher and as a writer--and as a person who works with English as a Foreign Language students sometimes--once I get past the sociolo-linguistic and pedagogical materials I think this book is useful. Well, some of it...not Chapter 3. Chapter 2 was amazing, though. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-12-20 00:00:00 Kenneth Vaughan I give it 3 stars for the small portion I read (and genuinely enjoyed). I couldn't read this text cover to cover, the language is too stilted for that, but it touches on ideas I'm interested in when it comes to language so I will hold onto and browse every so often. |
