Another great book by Lynne Cherry. This book was about a wood thrush bird, Flute, and his migration paths during his life. Throughout the story, we are exposed to Flute and other birds getting lost because of new developments that are being built in their normal areas. In the story, it said that only one bird could claim an area in the tree. When Flute got to the forest in Costa Rica, he struggled to find a new home for the winter. Even when he returned home in the spring, a new housing development was created near his old home. He eventually found a new place where he could stay and raise his family with Feather. This would be a great book to read about if discussing migration or even preservation.

This story is a about a young wood thrush who is embarking on his first migration for the winter and then the return. He deals with perils and goes through trials and tribulations that typically threatens song birds. He finds help in the people who are putting in effort to preserve the precious habitat that the wood thrush relies on to live. Great illustrations from Lynne Cherry. A great story to use for a science lesson on preserving habitats or other environmental issues.
