Text-to-Self Connection I love this book! It brought back so many memories when I was a little girl. Just about every Friday I would go stay with my grandma and spend the night. I remember cooking, sewing and reading with her. At my grandma's house, she has quilts that have been passed down generation to generation on all of her beds in her house. I remember how beautiful they were. The little girl in the book was excited about staying at her grandma's house but wanted her parents at night. I remember a time when I wanted my parents but my grandma would read me a story and I would fall fast asleep. Great book to read to your own kids!

This book was very relatable to me as when I stayed with my grandparents as a young girl, I also was homesick at times. The little girl packs her things and is so excited that she gets to stay with her grandma. As the night winds down after she spends the day playing games, eating, painting, making music, and so on she starts to feel a little bit homesick. Grandma tells her a tale of when she stayed with her grandma and how the quilt that she owns got started when she was homesick. It makes the little girl feel better and she is able to sleep good that night with the quilt on her bed. These pictures were illustrated and created with watercolor and acrylics. The pictures appear to be a little bit blurry or smudged at times but that is what makes them so unique. They also have very bright colors in them as well with all different shades that make it so appealing to the reader. This book has simple language in it and is written in rhyme which exposes children to different styles of writing. I would enjoy having this book in my classroom.
