Review # 1 was written on 2014-08-25 00:00:00 Amy Dao Carl Dennis' poems infuse everyday moments with mythological and religious resonances. I think it works so well because he's not proselytizing, he's just tapping into an element that's really central to the history of English poetry (think Donne, Herbert, Milton) but generally neglected by serious literary writers today. Four stars rather than five just because this collection didn't feel as consistently fresh and profound as Practical Gods. My personal favorite in this collection was "To Reason."

Review # 2 was written on 2008-05-23 00:00:00 Christoph Hahl Very thoughtful and straight-forward. I especially liked Integer, The Great Day, Aunt Celia and Say It.
