This book offers an interesting take on the classic story by Hans Christian Andersen. The author has chosen to present cartoonish anthropomorphic penguins in the place of people and has illustrated the book herself. The narrative is fairly straightforward and entertaining and "the illustrations in this book were drawn on matte acetate with ink and colored pencils and were back-painted with acrylic paints." Overall, it's a fun, fast read and I enjoyed this unique take on the story.

The Emperor Penguin's New Clothes is quite enjoyable I must say. In this book, you learn about an Emperor Penguin who is obsessed with fashion and wearing a new outfit every hour. The Emperor is info about the magical cloth and pays the weavers to make him clothes the magical cloth. Later in the story, the Emperor wears the magical cloth and a very young penguin points that he isn't wearing any clothes. The Emperor realizes as well but continues to his head held high and marched on. I really like the message of the story and how the emperor realizes that clothes aren't what makes him fashionable, but his confidence is what makes the clothes fashionable. I would definitely give the book five stars.
