Review # 2 was written on 2017-04-08 00:00:00 Donald Meadows These are a collection of sixteen satiric monologues where Juvenal does his best to poke his finger in the eye of the Roman society of his day for not living up to its heritage. This armchair classicist found Juvenal to be grossly over-rated. Maybe he has been given such scholarly acclaim because he wrote his complaints in verse? I can find no other reason.
