Review # 1 was written on 2021-10-31 00:00:00 Harold Price Library copy Oh, Bingo, I do love you. It's not you, it's me. Well, actually, it IS you. You're not really 12, you're 44, and my middle school readers can tell the difference. Don't get me wrong; you were a fantastic 12 year old for 1988. You cooked, you took good care of your pregnant mother, and you liked girls because of how smart they were, not just because you thought they were cute. But a very kind student read the books and told me that he was sorry, but they really no longer felt relevant. Given that people in polite society no longer use the term "Gypsy", I'm going to have to agree and send you to a better place. Of course, now I have my reservations about Anastasia Krupnik and Alice McKinely, who are your contemporaries.

Review # 2 was written on 2012-01-27 00:00:00 Misty Acheson I just love Bingo Brown. Although this is a juvenile chapter book, I, a 31 year old adult found myself laughing aloud on several occasions. Bingo continues his relationship with Melissa; his main conflict comes when he has to buy her a Christmas gift. What should he get her? What's she getting him? How to convey the depths of his emotion on only $3? So funny. Also, Bingo's mom is having a baby, so there are Burning Questions about Big Brotherhood to contend with as well. Seriously, Bingo is so adorable and genuine and hilarious. Everyone needs to read these books. I am so glad I wasn't disappointed as I so often am when re-reading much-loved books from my childhood.
