Review # 1 was written on 2013-04-02 00:00:00 Deborah Mctiernan I found this book browsing the Hannam Library, here in Daejeon, S. Korea. The basement of this library is filled with only English books, and often, I feel like I am the only one there searching for a book. This gives me great pleasure and I live so close - how much I will miss the little things like this in Korea, when I go back home! Now, I really liked this book because of its depth and clarity. Author, I believe, was a law professor at Boston University and this is a very old book. Now much has changed since then, in terms of how laws are made, how laws form policy, etc. This book explains just that in a very clear and astute way. I often times wonder how much do new books copy from good books written in the past, especially books on writing style and law - two fields I'm familiar with. I find that when I read some newer books, I feel like I am just reading regurgitated knowledge from older, previous books. A lot of older authors and scholars have had great wisdom and you can tap into that by reading some of what they have written. If you can find this one, I think you will enjoy it. |
