A complete and coherent explanation of the Big Bang, where time and space began Given that it is a coherent explanation of how the universe came into existence and how it evolved very rapidly at first and then settled into a slow and steady progression, the Big Bang theory is complicated. It also is a bit disturbing in the sense that it contains within it a principle unusual for science. The theory can be used to explain what happened back to the instant of the event but not for even a few seconds before that. It is rare that there is simply no evidence for what existed before, any question about what came before can only be answered with a scientific shrug of the shoulders. Couper and Henbest are extremely talented science writers and they demonstrate their skills in this book. Much of the current thought and the consistent evidence for the Big Bang is presented in a coherent and understandable manner. Using a combination of text and images, the reader is taken back in time to literally the beginning of time and space. Ideas about the creation of the universe have been the subject of various myths down through time. This book presents the coherent and consistent evidence for how the universe arose and evolved, right back to the point where only myth can continue the story. This review also appears on Amazon
