Great, for a textbook. The readings were interesting -- one actually moving. Suggestions for acquiring vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, and getting a better sense of grammar were all useful. Now to try and find Y No Se Lo Trago La Tierra by Tomas Rivera.

I learned a lot about the History and manifestations of Spanish both in peninsular Spain and Latin America. Though a bit outdated in some of its information as many things have changed since the 1980's in regard to the use of Spanish it is still the most comprehensive authority on Spanish Dialectology. Personally I enjoyed the chapters on the different Amerindian Languages that have influenced the uses of Spanish in the Americas the most both for their historical and linguistic value.
