Review # 1 was written on 2009-04-03 00:00:00 Michaela Gajdosova This book offers some very interesting applications of Darwin's theory of evolution. The chapter on education was most interesting and offered some very deep analysis of the ways that education can be seen through the lens of selection and how this might better facilitate learning. Very dense, but worth it. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-02-06 00:00:00 David Bloom An interesting excursion into selectionism from the 1990s and a useful primer on the topic of blind variation/selective retention as a universal tool for human endeavour. According to Cziko, rather like the Great Chain of Being, Universal Selection Theory can act as a Great Method of Being for any step into the unknown or the acquisition of new knowledge. The verdict is still out. |
