Written by a Catholic, so her criticism of the church is directed at the Roman church, but some of what she says is true of many churches. The main theme of the book is that the Christian religion (scripture, moral code, and religious rituals) was formed in a time, culture, and worldview which is foreign to us and no longer applicable. She proposes a renewed faith in the God of mystery who is still perceivable in the cosmos, in physics, in human love.

I would say this is more 3.5 She had some very interesting points, but I was skeptical about some issues. I really enjoyed her point of view on many aspects of religion and faith. If she ever comes to the Twin Cities, I would love to hear her do a talk.
