Pioneer mom Iva Dunnit is a down home country lady with six kids all with first names beginning with the letter I for Ivan, Ivy, etc. Iva is a legend who can handle any challenge, and has raised her younguns to do the same, by keeping their wits and staying put. In the early 1800s such women of courage were not supposed to exist, but don't tell that to Iva Dunnit, who, like Miss Reba McEntire, will use her Suth'n wit to put y'all in your place! Then one day a huge windy storm threatens the family's chicken farm house, and Iva heads outside on her lonesome to save them. When she gets stuck on the barn roof with the wind raging about her, it's up to the kids to make a choice: stay put or keep their wits and save mom from being blown away like the Tumbleweed what lives in a cowboy's dream. An awesome American folk tale with a strong woman both genders can root for. Read for yourself. Quoting Reba, it's your one chance to fancy, so I know you won't let me down! Four stars, y'all! Review # 2 was written on 2009-04-16 00:00:00 Joseph Palanca When I was learning how to read, my brother, sister, and I checked this book out from the library almost every week--we loved it that much. This book represents my childhood, and helps me remember my old library and my first contact with literature. Great story, great writing, great book! Perfect for beginning readers!
