Molly lived in a basement apartment in the town and although she loved watching the legs of people walk by during the day, the rest of the family did not. Besides, it doesn't have a garden. It is time for a move to the outer suburbs. Dislocated from her comforting surroundings and less adjusted to this new setting, Molly explores her new home and finds solace in a neighbouring garden which lies abandoned. There she finds local cats and an overgrown greenhouse where she can tend to the potted plants just like she used to. When new people move into the plot, Molly is dismayed but suddenly finds that she has two new companions to befriend. As always, Hughes' magic comes in capturing the everyday with delectable precision. For me, her exploration of framing and and format makes this an even more engaging read.

One of the main positive aspects of this book was that you got to really understand the character Molly. The pictures that are designed are creative as they are spread out on the book in different ways. However, one of the major flows of the book is that for a picture book, there is a lot of writing which might put off younger children, even though the language used seems to be targeted towards younger children. This is perhaps a good read for older children but the language used might put them off as well.
