EDITORIAL
THE SLEUTHSAYER
"It's a new millennium and never has cinematic sex been more vulnerable,"
observes Movieline magazine. "Call it progress, but moviegoers are more jaded
and more informed than ever before. They're a jury of bought-off hormones, hardened
by the arteries of cable, engorged by the media's need to serve up one hot dish
after another." Let's head for the BUFFet, shall we?
It's all you can, uh, eat...a feast for the eyes...though Detour decries that,
"Everything sexual must now be inspected from all sides, points, and borders
{like, say, a 'pregnant ballot'?} to meet the demands of customer approval. We
look more than once at sex these days {there'll be no recounts here}, not necessarily
with eyes wide shut at the meat market."
In keeping with this tastytheme, clever Carrie Fisher {last uncovered in V12 N51
feels it's all in the mouth: "Yes is sexy," she writes. "Maybe
is sexier. It gives you something to do later. After years of talk, I have finally
decided that what is SEXY is uncertainty. We string ourselves along with the symbols
of love and sex, the mystery and math of mating, but one shouldn't strive too
hard defining what is sexy. In short," Carrie concludes, "one must hold
one's tongue so that it might do other business."
.Words to love by, as are these selected "Top Ten Little-Used Euphemisms
For Sex" recently advanced by The Late Show's David Letterman: "WWW-ing
until you dot com...Penning your Teller...Puffing the Daddy...Saving Ryan's privates...{and}
You've Got Male." To which Sleuth adds: "Gore-ing the Bush"...
Although, Vibe reminds us, "Being sexy has nothing to do with having sex
(although the act can be inspiring), and nothing to do with how you look (but
it does help). Sexiness is about confidence." And we're confident that this
"Top 25" {no jive!} can back it up...on any front.
As Internet icon Johnny Web {www.scoopy.net) just observed—exactly five
days before I write this: "Celebrity Sleuth's back issues are the bible of
celebrity nudity, with more naughty stuff than the Song of Songs, and with fully
36% less smiting than the Old Testament. They are the most important resource
I have for pictures and information, and they are humorous to boot!" Funny,
we're getting all Gideon...
