| Sally Sheffield was a nude model. She is best known as the Playboy Playmate of the Month in May, 1969. Her centerfold was shot by Pompeo Posar, who later remarked, "Sally was an interesting lady, so smart,". It is of note that Sheffield was two months pregnant at the time of her photo shoot.
Sally received a bachelor's degree in psychology at Wellesley College, then went on to take a masters in musicology at the New England Conservatory of Music. She is fluent in French and Hebrew. She is of Jewish ancestry and, prior to her Playboy appearance, spent six months on a kibbutz in Israel. Following her kibbutz, she returned to New York where, in 1965-66, she appeared on and wrote the music for an NBC-TV childrens' series called The First Look. When asked why she wanted to be a Playmate, Sheffield candidly replied, "because it would be monetarily rewarding..." A younger sister, Anita Sheffield, also did some nude modeling.
