Hyapatia Lee is of Cherokee and Irish descent. She is a former American exotic dancer and pornographic actress. As the only Native American in the business, during her tenure, she was one of the most prolific pornographic actresses of the Golden Age of Porn.

In 1993 she was inducted into the XRCO and AVN Halls of Fame. She was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Free Speech Coalition in 1995.

After winning the 1979 Miss Nude Galaxy contest in Roselawn, Indiana, its owner cast Hyapatia Lee in The Young Like It Hot . In 1984, she appeared in Penthouse, in the same September 1984 record breaking bestselling issue that exposed Miss America 1984, Vanessa Williams.

Her film school grad Bud Lee joined the cast and crew of her films. Together they co-wrote the second most expensive pornographic film, The Ribald Tales of Canterbury , in which she also starred.

In 2000, she self-published an autobiography, which sold hundreds of copies. Though she has her own MySpace page, she does not have an official site and chooses not to sue cybersquatting entities that use her alias in their domain names.

Hyapatia Lee was born in Haughville, Indianapolis to 16 year old parents. In her teens, she was raped repeatedly by one of her mother’s boyfriends and developed a dissociative identity disorder, the alias Hyapatia Lee being one of her alternate personalities.

A friend set her up with Indiana University film school grad Bud Lee and they soon married. Hyapatia Lee chose for them to live in an isolated southern Indiana retreat. They had two sons.

Following notorious incidents like walking off the set of Native Tongue after threatening to physically harm the director and faking her own death in 1998 in order to close down her website and fan club, she decided to retire. As result, Bud Lee divorced her and started his own independent career as a pornographic producer in Los Angeles.

She later married Heavy metal guitarist, Jack . They have one son, who, like her other sons, Hyapatia Lee homeschools.

In 2008, Hyapatia made a return to the legitimate stage and appeared in several plays around the Indianapolis area. She currently is a member of the Coachlight Musical Theater in Nashville, Indiana where she acts, choreographs, and plays violin in several of the revues performed there.
