Ever exalting the beauty of submissive women as we do, we share our kink community's vigilant concern for their well-being. Whether at dungeon parties or in the context of intimate relationships, we're rightly concerned for their safety and comfort in light of the trust they display in giving their bodies over to the care and use of dominant partners. That said, every so often we have to remind submissive players that power exchange goes both ways and putting on a collar doesn't amount to surrendering all personal responsibility. It's very easy for a beguiling slave-babe to take unfair advantage of her allure or forget that scene protocol is no substitute for ordinary consideration.
Recently, we've seen examples of bad behavior from subs in both private and public situations, meriting more than a mere spanking. While sexual submission is a precious gift, it's not a substitute for ordinary acts of politeness, like showing up for play-dates as scheduled, recognizing the value of other people's time and effort, keeping intimate details of BDSM encounters in confidence, and not abusing the appeal of slavehood to secure favors unwarranted by what might otherwise be a casual friendship.
It's easy to forget, when you're the one who's tied up and/or taking a lashing, that the person on the other end of the whip is also vulnerable. Just as no sincere submissive would want to have that kinky itch scratched merely as a means of manipulating non-BDSM-related aspects of daily life, Dominants don't relish having their buttons pushed a few times by someone whose real motivations are economic or social. There is a more concise if less flattering term for someone who exchanges sexual favors of any kind in return for other forms of consideration, and while we have nothing against such exchanges if they're honest and mutually agreed, we don't find it appealing when this fact is known to one party and concealed from the other.
In short, just because someone uses you in a sexual context doesn't confer the right to use that person in any other old way you see fit. What makes what we do ethical is a mutual commitment to treat each other's needs with care and respect, and that goes both ways.
